How to Make Money Fast in GTA: Vice City — Every Reliable Method
Money is the real progression system in Vice City. Missions gate the story, but property gates the missions — you cannot reach the finale without owning and completing six assets. Here is how to make money fast in GTA: Vice City, ordered by how quickly each method pays.
All of this works in the classic game, the Definitive Edition and the free browser version.
1. Cone Crazy — the doubling trick
The fastest method in the game, and it is not close. Get into the Stallion parked on the roof of the Ocean Beach car park to trigger the Cone Crazy challenge. Complete it and you are paid. Complete it again and the reward doubles. Keep repeating and the payout keeps doubling.
A handful of clean runs takes you from nothing to more money than the entire early story pays. It is the single best use of your first twenty minutes.
2. The last Sunshine Autos street race
Buy Sunshine Autos ($50,000) in Viceport and its street races unlock. The final race pays up to $40,000 and is infinitely repeatable. Once you can win it reliably — a Cheetah or Infernus helps, see the fastest cars guide — it becomes a $40,000 loop with no cap.
3. Property income
The passive layer. Buy an asset, complete its mission strand, and it pays out daily forever. Ranked by return:
| Asset | Cost | Daily income | Pays for itself in |
|---|---|---|---|
| The Boatyard | $10,000 | $2,000 | 5 days |
| Cherry Popper Ice Cream | $20,000 | $3,000 | ~7 days |
| Sunshine Autos | $50,000 | $9,000 | ~6 days |
| Kaufman Cabs | $40,000 | $5,000 | 8 days |
| Pole Position Club | $30,000 | $4,000 | ~8 days |
| Film Studio | $60,000 | $7,000 | ~9 days |
| Print Works | $70,000 | $8,000 | ~9 days |
| The Malibu Club | $120,000 | $10,000 | 12 days |
Buy the Boatyard first. Cheapest entry, fastest payback, and it counts toward the six assets you need for the finale. The Ice Cream Factory is the natural second. Together that is $30,000 for $5,000 a day and two of your six.
Own all eight and you are collecting roughly $48,000 a day for doing nothing.
4. Hidden packages
Each of the 100 packages pays $100 on pickup — $10,000 across the set — and collecting all of them pays a $100,000 bonus. The weapons you unlock along the way (Python at 30, minigun at 60) are worth more than the cash, since they save you buying ammo for the rest of the run. See the hidden packages guide.
5. Story missions
The baseline. Individual missions pay from a few thousand into the tens of thousands, and the later strands pay well. This is money you earn anyway, so treat it as a floor rather than a strategy — see the full mission list.
6. Vehicle side missions and store robberies
Taxi, Vigilante, Paramedic and Firefighter all pay per level and are required for 100 % completion anyway. Vigilante in a Rhino tank is the most profitable per minute. The 15 store robberies are small individually but add up while you are driving between other objectives.
The efficient order
- Cone Crazy until you have $30,000 or so.
- Buy the Boatyard and Ice Cream Factory. Passive income starts.
- Buy the Hyman Condo ($14,000) for the helipad.
- Collect hidden packages — cash, weapons and the $100,000 bonus.
- Buy Sunshine Autos, then farm the last street race whenever you need a lump sum.
- Pick up the remaining assets and let daily income handle the rest.
Or skip all of it: there is no money cheat in Vice City, but the cheat list has weapons, health and vehicles, which is most of what money buys anyway.
