GTA: Vice City Map Guide — Every District, Safehouse and Asset
The GTA: Vice City map is two islands joined by causeways, and it is small enough that a good player carries the whole thing in their head by the end of the story. That density is the point — almost nothing on this map is filler. Here is how it is laid out.
Everything here applies to the classic game, the Definitive Edition and the free browser version.
The east island (available from the start)
Ocean Beach
The southern tip and your starting neighbourhood. Art-deco hotels, the beach strip, and the Ocean View Hotel — your first safehouse, free, and where hidden-package rewards spawn. Also home to an Ammu-Nation and the Pole Position Club asset.
Washington Beach
Directly north of Ocean Beach. The police station is here, which matters more than it sounds — it is where you respawn after a bust, minus your weapons. Washington Beach also holds the largest single cluster of hidden packages on the map.
Vice Point
The big north-eastern residential and hotel district. The Malibu Club asset ($120,000, the most expensive and the best earner) and the North Point Mall are both here, along with a second Ammu-Nation.
Starfish Island
The gated mansion island in the middle of the bay. This is where the Vercetti Estate sits — Diaz's mansion until Rub Out, yours afterwards, complete with helipad and a guaranteed weapon spawn inside.
Prawn Island
Small, run-down, north of Starfish. Holds the InterGlobal Film Studio asset and some of the map's most annoying stragglers when you are hunting collectibles.
Downtown
The high-rise district in the north-east. Vertical, dense, and the reason you eventually want a helicopter — buy the Hyman Condo ($14,000) for a helipad that always respawns a Maverick. Kaufman Cabs and the Hyman Memorial Stadium are here.
The west island (unlocks partway through)
Little Haiti
Mid-west island, gritty and low-rise. The Print Works asset and Auntie Poulet's shack are here. Expect hostile pedestrians once the Haitian story strand kicks in.
Little Havana
South of Little Haiti, and the home of Umberto Robina and the Cuban missions. Café Robina, plus the Cherry Popper Ice Cream Factory asset — at $20,000 one of the cheapest paths to the six assets you need for the finale.
Viceport & the docks
The industrial south-west. The Boatyard asset ($10,000, the cheapest in the game) and Sunshine Autos ($50,000, which unlocks the car-import list) are both down here.
Escobar International Airport
The far south-west corner. Planes, a Sea Sparrow spawn, and the SPAS-12 shotgun tucked behind a surfboard out front.
Fort Baxter Air Base
South-east of the airport, fenced and guarded. Collect 90 hidden packages and a Rhino tank spawns here; collect all 100 and you get a Hunter attack helicopter. There is also an M60 in the western guard tower.
Safehouses and what they cost
| Safehouse | District | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Ocean View Hotel | Ocean Beach | Free (story) |
| Vercetti Estate | Starfish Island | Free (story, after Rub Out) |
| 1102 Washington Street | Washington Beach | $3,000 |
| Links View Apartment | Vice Point | $6,000 |
| El Swanko Casa | Vice Point | $8,000 |
| Hyman Condo | Downtown | $14,000 |
| Ocean Heights Apartment | Ocean Beach | $7,000 |
| 3321 Vice Point | Vice Point | $2,500 |
Buy the Hyman Condo first if you plan to collect anything. The helipad pays for itself.
Learning the map fast
Two tricks. First, use the causeways as your mental spine — almost every cross-island trip routes through one of them, so learning the two bridge approaches orients you instantly. Second, ride a PCJ-600 rather than driving. It is fast, it fits through alleys, and the map's shortcuts are built for bikes.
Ready to explore it? Launch the free browser version — no download, and it runs on a laptop or a phone. If you are curious how GTA 6's much larger Vice City compares, see our GTA 6 Leonida map guide.
