Every GTA: Vice City Radio Station, Ranked — The Best Soundtrack in Gaming
Plenty of games have licensed music. GTA: Vice City built a city out of it. The Vice City soundtrack spans nine radio stations — seven music, two talk — and the reason people still argue about it in 2026 is that each one is a coherent piece of 1986, not a shuffled playlist.
All nine are intact in the free browser version, so you can tune in while you read.
The nine stations
| Station | Genre | Host |
|---|---|---|
| Wave 103 | New wave, synth-pop, post-punk | Adam First |
| Flash FM | Pop | Toni |
| V-Rock | Hard rock and metal | Couzin Ed |
| Fever 105 | Soul, funk, disco | Oliver "Ladykiller" Biscuit |
| Emotion 98.3 | Power ballads, soft rock | Fernando Martinez |
| Radio Espantoso | Latin jazz, mambo, salsa, Latin funk | Pepe |
| Wildstyle Pirate Radio | Early hip-hop and electro | Mr. Magic |
| VCPR | Talk — Pressing Issues | Maurice Chavez |
| K-Chat | Talk — celebrity interviews | Amy Sheckenhausen |
Ranked
1. Wave 103
The definitive Vice City station. Gary Numan's Cars is the first thing you hear if you tune to Wave 103 at the start of a new game, and that single choice sets the tone for the whole port city. Blondie, A Flock of Seagulls, Kate Bush, Corey Hart, Spandau Ballet. It is also the only station that kept its entire original tracklist through the 10th Anniversary release and the Definitive Edition — every other station lost songs to expiring licences. Adam First's smug, over-earnest DJ patter is half the appeal.
2. Flash FM
The pop station, and the one you will hear most because it is the default in half the cars you steal. Billie Jean, Hall & Oates' Out of Touch, Wang Chung, Laura Branigan's Self Control. Toni is a former singer, and the station plays like a chart rundown that genuinely loves the charts.
3. Fever 105
Soul and disco, hosted by Oliver Biscuit at a permanent low simmer. Michael Jackson's Wanna Be Startin' Somethin', Kool & The Gang, Mary Jane Girls. The best station for driving Ocean Drive at night with no particular mission active.
4. V-Rock
Where the game gets loud. Megadeth, Anthrax, Judas Priest, Twisted Sister, Slayer's Raining Blood. Couzin Ed's descent over the course of the game is a genuine bit of writing. Pair with a Rhino tank.
5. Radio Espantoso
The most underrated of the nine. Latin jazz, mambo and salsa — Mongo Santamaria, Tito Puente, Irakere. It gives Little Havana a character no other station could, and Pepe's between-track chatter is the funniest on the dial.
6. Emotion 98.3
Power ballads, played completely straight: Broken Wings, Owner of a Lonely Heart, Foreigner. Fernando Martinez hosts it as a lonely-hearts confessional. It is a joke and it is also, unironically, a great station.
7. Wildstyle Pirate Radio
Early hip-hop and electro — Afrika Bambaataa, Herbie Hancock's Rockit, Cybotron. Short playlist, but historically the most interesting: it captures the exact moment the genre was being invented.
8–9. VCPR and K-Chat
The talk stations, and the reason people leave the radio on in traffic. VCPR's Pressing Issues — Maurice Chavez moderating increasingly unhinged panels — is some of the sharpest satire Rockstar has written. K-Chat is Amy Sheckenhausen fumbling celebrity interviews. Neither has a single song, and both are worth a full listen.
Why it still holds up
The soundtrack works because the stations are characters. Each one has a host with an arc, ad breaks that build the world, and a genre tight enough that tuning the dial changes the mood of the drive. Later GTA games have more songs; none of them have a radio dial that does this much narrative work.
Fire up the free browser version, steal something with a good stereo, and put it on Wave 103. If you are new, our beginner tips will keep you alive long enough to finish a song.
